What’s The Safest Way For Your Dog To Travel In The Car?

It might look cute when dogs hang their head out of a car window, but it’s actually really dangerous.

Dogs may love the wind in their face, but they might be at risk for serious accidents with their heads hanging out of the car.

But What’s The Safest Way For Your Dog To Travel In The Car?

According to Pet Health Network, you should always keep your dog in the backseat of the car — this protects both the dog and the passenger.

If a dog is in the front seat, it can be a distraction to the driver, which can lead to accidents.

So, what’s the best way to travel with your dog?

Keeping Your Dog Safe

To keep your dog safe, restrain them in the car. There are lots of restraint mechanisms like dog seat belts and restraint harnesses that can keep your dog confined to the back seat.

These options will keep your beloved pup safe and sound, wherever the two of you go together!

Dogs help you make more friends

Having a pet is a wonderful thing. If you do have one, it can provide plenty of ways to meet new friends. The best part is, you’ll already have something in common so conversations may flow a little bit easier in the beginning..Here are some ways that can help you meet more people and make more friends.

1.  You Can Meet New People at the Dog Park

If you’ve never been to a dog park, it’s definitely an experience. They bring out a variety of people, from pet owners to those who just like to watch the pooches run around and play. You get to see how people interact with their pets, which can be a telling part of their personality. Hanging out at an animal park can be a great way for individuals and couples alike to make new friends.

Some things to chat about at the park include:

The dogs! If you see someone you’d like to get to know, ask them about their pet. People love talking about their animals, so find out how long they have had it, what kind of breed it is, and tips they have for training.

  • Your aim is to make friends, so get a feel for how often others go to the park and how long they stay each time.
  • Other animal-related events. You may learn about new doggie daycares, owner events, or even other parks while there.
  • General questions. Ask about the best way to get your puppy potty trained, how to teach it to sit, where to buySUV cargo liner, or any other question you haven’t found the answer to yet in relation to your pet. Hanging out with other dog owners can be a learning experience that makes you a better pet owner.

2.  Sit Outside With Your Dog at the Coffee Shop

Many coffee shops have outside areas where you can hang out with your pet. Make sure your dog is socialized so if a stranger walks up and talks to you, it doesn’t bark or snap. Remember, you’re trying to attract people to you, not repel them.

3.  Meet Other Dog Owners at the Groomer

Some dogs do not like the groomer, so you’ll see plenty of owners trying to soothe their pet while they wait in line. This atmosphere makes people very receptive to conversation and meeting someone new. You can offer sympathy for their scared pooch while you strike up a conversation with the owner.

4.  They Help You Get Out for a Walk Where You Can Meet Your Neighbors

Walking with your pet is great way to find friends right in your own neighborhood. Not only that, but you may connect with someone who wants to walk with you, giving you both health benefits and time with a friend. It’s a win-win.

5.  Connecting With People Who Can Dog Sit for You

If you need to go out of town, you’ll have to either take your pet or find a reputable sitter. One option is to connect with someone you might know casually and develop a deeper friendship. You could even trade offers to watch each other’s dogs when you go out of town. This not only provides you with a new friend, but it also gives you peace of mind that your pooch is in a safe environment.

Camping with your dog

Summer is winding down, it’s the perfect time to take one last summer vacation before fall comes, and camping is a great option for the whole family—including your dog. Here are some tips to make sure your camping trip goes off without a hitch.

If a long drive is involved, make sure your dog is ready.
If you don’t normally take your dog on long car rides, make sure you take a few practice runs. 50% of dogs get carsick, so bring materials to clean up a mess in case your dog is prone to carsickness.

Find a pet-friendly campsite.
Many campsites will charge an extra fee in order to bring your pet, and if they are pet-friendly they will have their own set of regulations. Double check the leash laws, trail regulations and other rules before bringing our dog along for the trip.

Bring a lead, tether and stake for the ground.

Prepare for the drop in temperature at night.
If it’s warm enough your dog will be fine sleeping outside of your tent, just make sure he’s tied up securely. But weather can always take a turn for the worst, so bring extra blankets or be able to make room for your dog inside the tent if it gets too cold outside.

Bring a first aid kit.
This will be crucial if your dog gets cut on the bottom of his pads, an injury that can quickly become infected. Having the tools to clean and dress any wound is necessary and can prove useful for yourself and your family. Make sure the kit comes with tweezers in case your dog picks up any ticks or other insects while exploring.

Camping is a great way for the whole family to bond and enjoy the great outdoors, so it only seems right to bring your furry friend along. Just do some research and go prepared to have a wonderful family vacation before summer comes to a close!

I love having this in my backseat. I don’t have to worry about dog here getting all over my car. I have a yellow lab with a coat that sheds more than regular labs. This seat cover catches all of that hair. I also like the fact that it is black so I can see when it starts to get the need of cleaning.

Tips to keep your car clean and tidy

Keeping your car’s interior clean is just as important as keeping your car’s exterior well-maintained. You inhabit the inside of your vehicle whenever you drive, and it’s good for both your health and peace of mind to keep your vehicle’s interior clean. Luckily, cleaning your upholstery can be simple thanks to a variety of techniques and specific cleaning products tailored to vehicle upholstery. Here are some easy tricks to prevent messes in the car:

  1. Get car seat covers.Purchase seat covers that will protect your seats. These can either match your seats or they can have bright, colorful patterns on them. They are available for both bucket seats (such as front seats) and for bench seats (such as backseats). Many kinds can be machine-washed, making it easier to tidy up your car.                      0-xgqftG
  2. Apply a stain repellent to your upholstery.A stain repellent will make it hard for stains to settle into the upholstery and will prolong the life of the upholstery. A stain repellent like Fabric and Upholstery Protector is available at home supply stores. Follow the instructions on the product label for proper usage.
  1. Clean spills and messes immediately.Don’t allow spills and messes to sit in your car if possible. If they are not cleaned up right away, they may set into the upholstery, making it hard to remove them. Additionally, they can add to an unpleasant odor in your car.
  2. Limit food and drinks in the car.By banning food and drinks in the car, you can reduce the potential for many stains and messes. Accidents are sure to happen if you stop suddenly or you are trying to eat while driving. Eliminate this risk by not allowing food or drinks in the car.
  3. Keep your car tidy.By removing garbage and other items from your vehicle after each journey, you may reduce the potential for stains to occur from grease-soaked fast food bags or spilled coffee cups. Dispose of any excess trash immediately after use so it doesn’t pile up and add to the clutter of your vehicle’s interior. Remove crayons and other things that are prone to melting if it is hot outside. The temperature of your car’s interior will be markedly hotter than outside and crayons, for example, will melt on upholstery if left there in the heat.
  1. Vacuum regularly.Removing dirt and debris from your car will prevent them from grinding into the seats and the carpet, thereby contributing to hard-to-remove stains. Set a schedule for yourself to vacuum out your car at least once a month, or more frequently if your car gets dirty quickly.

When the car is clean and tidy, you will feel more comfortable.
